A documentary film about the choreographer Tim Rushton and the making of his ballet Enigma.

Directed by Torben Glarbo. Playing time 58 minutes. Producers Tove Madsen.

We follow the choreographer Tim Rushton and his dance team close up for seven months during the creation of his new work ENIGMA.

The film shows how the choreographer communicates his ideas into a language that his dancers and other collaborating team members can develop and translate into a new collective work of art.

Tim Rushton does not use a finished manuscript for his works. Only the main structure is planned on beforehand while the choreography of the new creation advances in collaboration with the dancers.

The creative process unveils itself step by step as we experience how ideas and expressions mature - we see what is selected, rejected and why. Along with the composer and the scenographer we discover what mutually inspires and stimulates the choreographer and the dancers during the many training sessions.

The result is a charming description of the creative process that constitutes the making a modern ballet and a dance film filled with challenging aesthetic and erotic meanings.

The Press wrote:

Vibeke Wern gave the film 4 stars in Berlinske Tidende and wrote among others:

"It is fascinating to experience how the continuously balanced Rusthon works with his dancers quality of movement while trying to decode their individual qualities and talents and how to best employ those in the choreography"

Anne Middelbo Christensen wrote in Dagbladet Information:

"Glarbo manages to transform Rushton's many words and technical drawings into the art of erotic dance. The dancers and the work become one. And thank you for that"
